Sending Hugs

Bharati nayudu Hugs CAS card

Hi There!

Sharing a card that i made with my son. He always loves to help.  So we colored this cute lil piggy with copics and masked before we stenciled with distress inks. We really loved the way this cutie was hugging the heart and thought the sentiment ‘sending hugs’ matched.

My son is actually recovering from cold and this crafting time helped him distract and feel better for sometime. I strongly believe that crafting has a very calming effect and is one of the best way to bond with kids.

We are playing along with CASology – Hugs challenge

I hope you liked the card as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hugs from both of us! Have a great day.

Hello There!

Today i am sharing a CAS card using alcohol inks and a beautiful word die from Simon Says Stamp.  The card is very simple to recreate. Just a few flicks of alcohol ink and ink blending solution on Yupo paper before adhering the die cuts from the word die along with its shadow. On top of the word die i adhered a coordinating white heat embossed sentiment on small black strip. To finish the card i mounted the card front on a black mat before adhering everything on to a white card base. It’s as simple as that.

I can’t get enough of the alcohol inks which are new in my crafty stash and are super fun to play with.

Hello there!

Dropping by to share a quick card that i made using black and white card stock and a few dies. This card is inspired by the sketch at Less is more challenge #360 & #361.

lim-sketch.png

The moment i saw this sketch, All I could see was big panda eyes. And this card was really very simple to make once i started using the the dies. I am really happy how the stitched line around the border and the white of the eyes provide just a bit of the detail as well as tie everything together.

I am surely going to make this one again with my son and with other kids who walk into my room for some crafting joy. My son has a funny bone and i am looking forward to all the giggles and laughs we will have when he will play around with the placing the eyes. My bet is he will go for the crazy eyes look.  I will keep you posted, in case you are curious.

Here ‘s another version of the same card without the nose. This one is more closer to the Sketch at Less is more challenge and the sentiment is in shape of a smile.

Let’s Be Merry

Bharati Nayudu Winter christmas shabby chic card 4

Hello there!

Hope you had a great Christmas! The merry making has not stopped for me as I still am enjoying making  Christmas cards. My First Snow man Card and trying out the new to me snow pen.

Made this card using the gorgeous blue pattern papers by Papericious. I love how they coordinate so well with one another, which makes it very easy to add layers.

This cute snow man is by Avery elle stamps. I colored it with copic makers and before i fussy cut the image.

A snow man definitely needs snow, which i added using the snow pen. The creamy paste bubbles up and get lovely dimension once its slightly heated.

I placed a small snow ball in this snowman’s hand for added fun. I went over the eyes and buttons with glossy accents for shine and dimension.

For more interest i added the lace, silver thread and some sequins which i have been hoarding for quite some time now.

Happy New You!

Bharati nayudu_alcohol inks_ butterfly new you handmade card 1 (2)

Hello There!

Butterflies have always fascinated me. I fondly cherish my childhood memories of happily running after butterflies in the parks, being completely mesmerized to watch them land on flowers and spread their colorful wings. I was completely awe stuck when i learnt for the first time as a child that caterpillars turned into beautiful butterflies. How did those pretty wings mysteriously appear, i would ask myself! Well, that’s the magic of self transformation, isn’t it.

I am on one of my own metamorphic journeys as well. I have always been on the chubby side since childhood, which later grow into obesity, and now this seems to be weighing me down in life, even effecting me mentally. I have pledged to change this and am working towards a healthier me.  One day i too will fly 🙂

I am dedicating this card to all those who are on their journey towards a happier you! A shout out for all the efforts and struggles. For bouncing back after every failure.

And now let me tell you about my card.

Its a new year and i wanted to try something new. This is one of my first cards with alcohol inks . I used Ranger Adirondack alcohol inks & mixatives. By the way, I made a DIY alcohol blender by mixing surgical spirit with just few drops of glycerin. This seems to be working well for me. The inks are addictive to play with as the results are very unique each time and the process is super fun.

I die cut the butterflies from an alcohol ink panel. I tried a splatter of silver mixative on black card stock – I have to tell you, it felt good doing it (please note that the mixative takes quite some time to dry). I then adhered only the body of butterflies, leaving their wings free for dimension, before adding with foam tape the white heat embossed sentiment on match black card stock strips. To finish the card, I adhered the card panel at angle for added interest and just to try out something new.

Its a new year and i wanted to try something new. Although made a few panels using alcohol inks in Dec last year but i never made a cards out of those.

I used Ranger Adirondack alcohol inks & mixatives. By the way, I made a DIY alcohol blender by mixing surgical spirit with just few drops of glycerin. This seems to be working well for me.

The inks are addictive to play with as the results are very unique each time and the process is super fun.

I also tried something new with the border as well, by adding strips of paper with alcohol inks on top and left side of the card to add more interest. I think the photo did not capture the border properly.

One of my new year resolutions is to take better photos of my work. I really admire many crafters for the way they compose their photos, it really shows their attention to detail and love for their craft. What are your resolutions this year? do share.

Hope you like this CAS new year card, which marks my new beginning with alcohol inks and exploring new card borders.
