To make this card first inked a stripe of white card stock with distress inks. I then applied some embossing paste with a stencil to create a bit of interest on the inked panel. For the focal point I stamped and colored the image with copic colors. I added a googly eye and glossy accents on the beak and flowers.

To finish the card i added the sentiment from the same stampset on black die cut stripe with white embossing powder.

AAACards #124 Imagine

Hello There ! Happy Sunday!

I think i read somewhere that Albert Einstein once said : “Logic will take you from point A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere!”

It’s time for out next challenge and the theme is one of my most favorite words – “Imagine”

#124.jpg

Here’s my take, I imagined a fantasy land of mystic and mythical beings up in the sky. By the way, i am a huge fan of the magical world of harry potter and this card was made when my son and i were reading the book – “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. Sometimes i wish there were a magical land of crafting and scraps were the money. I would be super rich because i have 3 HUGE bins of scraps (Ok, i just realized while writing this blog that i am hoarding scraps…. Who hoards scarps??). Here’s my card…

IMG_4548

img_e4561-e1537069700944.jpgTo make this card I first stamped the images from the  Mythical creatures stamp set by lawn fawn on to Nenah Solar white card stock (Copic friendly paper) with  memento tuxedo black ink (Copic friendly ink) and colored with copics (you may use any alcohol markers). I then fussy cut the images with a scissors. To create the scene in the sky, i also die cut a few clouds from white card stock.

To complete the card I went with some soft ink blending for the sky and then adhered all the elements before i finally stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. I then adhere the whole panel to a black card base.

AAA Cards #123 Sketch Challenge

Hello There ! Happy Sunday!

It’s time for the next challenge and my first Sketch challenge at AAACards.

Here’s the sketch for you to play with

IMG_1689.PNG

And here’s my card based on the Sketch

Bharati nayudu AAACards sunny studio.jpg

The fun thing about a sketch challenge is that, half the work is already done. One already has a blueprint for a CAS Design. And for this card the other half of the work was also already done. I had colored this cute frogs, flowers, leaves and grass from the stamp set “Frog” by Sunny Studios during the daily marker 30 day coloring challenge.

IMG_1571

xgmd1551.jpgSo following the sketch I die cut a circular window on my white card front. I then took a separate card stock and created an evening sky by ink blending with distress inks. I also created the water for the pond with distress ink using the waves stencil by Simon Says Stamp before I heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set on the inked card stock. I adhered the inked card stock with foam tape like shown in the image. Finally i adhered all the colored images, few with glue and a few with foam squares to create a cute scene.

I made this card for two of my friends who are twins and are totally awesome.

I think we are going to get some amazing CAS Cards for this challenge and i am so looking forward to your take.

I am playing along with a couple of challenges with this card:

Addicted to stamp : Challenge #307 – Make Your Mark

I used the copic markers for coloring the images and distress inks for the background. I also used a stencil with the distress inks for creating the water in the background. The coloring is the highlight of the card.

Avenue 613 : Challenge #213 – Anything Goes -Optional Twist CAS

Keeping the scene inside the window leaves a lot of empty white space keeping the card Clean and Simple which is the optional twist

Crafty friends challenge : Challenge 91- Animals / Birds

The frogs in the card are perfect for the animal theme of the challenge as they are the focal point of the card. The sentiment also refers to the animals.

Animals Birds

2craftycrittercrazies : Challenge #18 September Challenge

The images of the frogs and the word toad in the sentiment is the focal point of the card. As the critters are the center of attention in the card, this is perfect for the theme of critters.

Paru’s Card Making Challenge : September Challenge – Anything Goes

Anything goes is always a fun theme with many possibilities. I always love playing along with Paru’s challenge.

Guest Designer -Muse Card Club

Hi There!

Thanks for joining me. Today I am super excited to be the ‘Muse of the Week’ for the Muse Card Club. I want to thank  Ardyth and the DT members at the Muse Card Club for this honor and privilege.

The creations from the DT members and Guest Designers at this challenge have always  been an inspiration as well as an education for me. The best thing that I love about this challenge is that, the format encourages creative learning and sharing. It also promotes love and support among the participants.

Here’s my Card for this week

bharati nayudu MFT Hedgehogs copic colors rainbow stencil background handmade card 2

The first rule of Muse Card Club is: You  talk a lot about Muse Card Club.                    The second rule of Muse Card Club is: You TALK A LOT ABOUT MUSE CARD CLUB!

Jokes apart, Here are the 3 simple rules, that is found on their blog:

  • Use the Muse card as inspiration, explain your interpretation and link back to Muse.
  • Provide supportive comments to at least 3 of your fellow members’ submissions.
  • Vote for 3 of your fellow members’ submissions that you find inspiring.

bharati nayudu MFT Hedgehogs copic colors rainbow stencil background handmade card 1

I wanted to create a card to inspire numerous ways for interpretation and a lot of opportunities for different takes on the card.

Here’s how i made the card:

bharati nayudu MFT Hedgehogs copic colors rainbow stencil background handmade card 3.JPGFor my card I first stamped these adorable images hedgehogs and the log from the ‘Happy Hedgehogs’ stampset by MFT on to nenah solar white card stock (Copic friendly paper) with black memento ink (Copic friendly ink) and colored with copics (you may use any alcohol markers). I then fussy cut the images with a scissors. I also heat embossed, the punny sentiment from the same stamp set, with white embossing powder on the image of the log.

Next, I took white Bristol Strathmore card stock (this is card stock is excellent for ink blending and water colors) in standard size (A2). I then placed the ‘Star Grid’ stencil by MFT on the card front and inked the panel with distress inks in lovely rainbow colors. I will be honest here, i really wanted to ink blend only in the central part and let it fade it into white towards the outside edges.  But, once is started ink blending I just couldn’t stop my self and covered the whole paper. Lol!!! Oh! inking is so therapeutic, isn’t it.

I finally adhered the colored images with foam squared on to the inked panel. As a finishing touch I added a few Nuvo Clear drops and a stripe of black and white patter paper. I then adhered the whole panel to a white card base.

I hope my cards inspires you to play along with the Muse Card Challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. I can’t wait to see your creative take.

AAA Cards- Somewhere over the Rainbow

Hello There!

Happy Sunday and I am so glad your joining me today for the next AAA Cards Challenge!

“Someday, I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why, oh why can’t I?”
I am from India and we burst out into songs just like that.. Bollywood style …Lol!!

The theme this fortnight is … yup you got that right… Somewhere over the rainbow”

AAACards Rainbow.PNG

There is something magical about a rainbow and i wanted to capture that in my card. Here’s my take:

bharati nayudu Rainbow unicorn CAS Card with avery elle stamps for AAA Cards.jpg

For my card I first stamped these adorable image of the rainbow with clouds and unicorn from the ‘Be a Unicorn’ stampset by Avery Elle on to nenah solar white cardstock (Copic friendly paper) with black memento ink (Copic friendly ink) and colored with copics lovely rainbow colors. I then die cut the images with the coordinating dies.

bharati nayudu Rainbow2 unicorn CAS Card with avery elle stamps for AAA Cards.jpgI then die cut two windows in a white card front and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. I ink blended a panel with distress inks in such a way that they form the background for the window openings, which i adhered to the card front with foam tape for dimension.

I finally adhered the colored images with foam squared inside the windows. As a finishing touch I added two hearts near the sentiment. I then adhered the whole panel to a white card base.

In case of my card, using the windows helped my maximize the empty space for a CAS look. I love the burst of colors against the white. That’s, i think, is the best part of rainbow theme with a CAS design.

I hope my cards inspires you to play along AAA Cards challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. Just remember to KEEP IT CAS (Clean And Simple).

AAA Cards #118 Frames

Hello There !

Happy Sunday and i am so glad your joining me today for the next AAA Cards Challenge!

The theme this time is FRAMES.

IMG_1684

Isn’t it just perfect to inspire a Clean and Simple design. Here are a few ideas to help you start – frame your focal point using die cuts, stamping around the focal point, use the stamp of a frame, stamp your sentiment inside a frame, create a scene inside a window or frame your image with the sentiment. Whatever be the technique you use, keeping the design framed and contained will surely enhance the CAS look and maximize the white space. So join us with your creative take on the theme FRAMES.

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Bharati Nayudu Lawn Fawn stamps Frames and seasons tweetings AAA Cards CAS Cards.jpg

Bharati Nayudu Lawn Fawn stamps Frames and seasons tweetings AAA Cards CAS CardFor my card I first stamped and colored this adorable frame from the Flirty frames stamp set by Lawn Fawn. Then I stamped the tiny branch and the cute lil birdie from the Season’s Tweetings stamp set by Lawn Fawn. This sweet lil bird reminded me of one of my favorite childhood cartoon characters – Tweety. So I colored it yellow and gave it a blue cap. I wanted to make the branch appear as if it was somewhere high and so I masked the bird and the branch to ink a few clouds in the background of the frame. I finished the card by stamping a few pretty flowers and the sentiment in scripty font from the Flirty frames stamp set by Lawn Fawn.

I hope my cards inspires you to play along AAA Cards challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. Just remember to KEEP IT CAS (Clean And Simple).

CASology #286 Butterfly

Hello There!

As the past week just fluttered by, it’s time for us to fly to the next challenge at CASology.  Got what i was hinting at?? Ok I may not be good at giving hints. So check out the cue card yourself. The Cue word for the Week # 286 is “Butterfly”.

Week 286 - Butterfly.jpg

I have always love butterflies and my mind went all over the place when i saw this cue word.  I will keep it real and confess, I wanted to play with stamps, stencils and dies – everything butterfly related from my  humble stash. I wanted to use inks, markers  as well as water colors. Butterflies were flying all over my imagination, until i saw this stamp by Mudra Stamps with a quote. Once it was in my hand I just wanted to use it. Don’t you think this quote is beautiful like a butterfly.

Bharati Nayudu CAS Butterfly quote handmade card.JPG

To add interest to the stamped quote I die cut it using a butterfly die and then in laid the pieces back. I adhered the pieces with the butterfly die image with tiny foam squares for some dimension.

Bharati Nayudu CAS Butterfly quote handmade card1.JPG

Like i mentioned the cue word has a million beautiful possibilities. Just remember to keep it CAS.   Can’t wait to see your creative take on this cue word.

Do fly by and check out the awesome CAS cards that the talented design team members and our guest designer made to inspire you

Guest Designer : Barb G.

Hope you liked my card. let me know by leaving me comments. I really love reading them and appreciate the time you spend on my blog.
