IMG_4058

Hello There !

JanuaryThere’s a new challenge in town and an awesome one! It’s Twofer Card Challenge. I have always loved making multiple styles, using cards out of the supplies that are already on my craft table. So i am sure many are going to enjoy this challenge as it gets the creative juices flowing  . Today i am excited to play along with their very first challenge with the theme – Feathers.

I am using the feather stamp from the Happy Dreams set by Altenew for both my cards.

My first card is a dream catcher with the feathers and is an encouragement / motivational one.

I am playing along with less is more purple color challenge as well. Thanks to the challenge i used purple for the dreamy looks.

My second card is a pet sympathy card for someone who lost a dear bird. I think this can used as a general sympathy as well.

Christmas cards with ferns & leaves

Hello There!

When we think of Christmas the colors that pop into our minds are Red , Green and Gold – perfect complementary colors. Wouldn’t we love if we could achieve completely different styles and looks of cards with a single stamp set using these colors.

Today i am sharing Christmas cards using Ferns & Leaves stamp set by Mudra Stamps.

Card # 1

IMG_2901.JPG

This one is for those who love inky fingers and burst of vibrant colors.

I inked the card base with shades of green distress oxide inks after masking the edges and sprinkled little water to lift a bit of the color. I then gold heat embossed images of Fern & Leaves stamp set by Mudra Stamps. I peeled the masking tape to reveal the crisp white border.

For the tag I took a smaller card stock and rounded off the corners before heat embossing the edges with silver. I then inked the tag with shades of red using distress oxide inks. The beautiful sentiment that i heat embossed with black is from penny black stamps. For added interest I fixed an eyelet before threading the twine through it and adhered gold sequins.

To finish the card i added the tag on the card with foam tape.

Card # 2

IMG_2904

This clean and simple card is made with a dash of same Red , Green and Gold colors but in a completely different look.

I started out by stamping the leaf stamp from the same stampset in a circle with green distress oxide ink to form the Christmas wreath. to finish the wreath, i added enamel dots and a tiny bow made of twine. The sentiment in center of the circle is from penny black stamps and is heat embossed in gold. Before i adhered the panel to a gold card base, i added golden twine under the wreath.

hope you liked both the cards and would give it a try!

Sparkle – Guest Designer at AAA Cards

Hello There,

What do you do when you get asked to guest design at one of your favorite challenges – you jump with joy and accept the lovely opportunity. Well that’s exactly what i did.

#105 (2)

I am very excited and greatly honored to play along with AAA Cards challenge as Guest Designer for the Game #105 with the theme – Sparkle. The challenge is to make CAS style cards, so do check out the definition of CAS from their website by clicking HERE.

I love CAS style cards because its made with a few striking elements to compliment the contrasting white space for achieving a stunning look and there is nothing better than adding sparkle to a CAS Card. So here’s my card for the game.

For this challenge I made a CAS Christmas card and the theme – Sparkle was just perfect to play with all the shiny goodies in my craft stash. To make this card I used red Glimmer paste for the strip on the left, gold heat embossing powder for the sentiment as well as for completely covering the elegant snowflake die cut, a golden thread to hang the embossed snowflake, some clear sparkling sequins and green metallic card stock as card base.

1 Stamp Set – Many possibilities

One of my personal challenges is to make as many cards and designs as possible from a single stamp set. To give my stamps the maximum love i challenged my self to make at least 10 cards from a stamp set. The MFT’s Space Explorer stamps are so cute and  the sentiments are so versatile that one could just keep on going…

To check these images on Instagram follow #1stamp10cards or click HERE

picture1.jpg

The first thing I did was to stamp, color and fussy cut all my images. I think i have a few images from Lawn Fawn’s Out of this World stamp set as well (I like to mix brands for more fun). I also coated all the images with my wink of Stella glitter pen, because the fact is that there is huge amount of glitter in the space and that’s what makes the sun, moon and the stars shine… lol

CARD #1

1.jpg

For this card i blended Distress Inks on watercolor paper and flicked some white paint on it to make the galaxy. I love how the galaxy came out on this card.

CARD #2

2.jpg

This card is a Clean And Simple one. All i did was brush the galaxy with water colors, adhere the images and black heat emboss the sentiment. Vola! a card is ready.

CARD #3

3
I just love how this astronaut is floating amidst so many planet and stars. The oval die cut background symbolizes the expanding galaxy. The galaxy is made with distress oxide inks and clusters of stars have been die cut to add interest.

CARD #4

4.jpg

My Gansai Tambi watercolors arrived and i had to rush to my craft table to make a galaxy using those. The intense pigment gives a rich look to the galaxy and helps the images colored with copic markers pop against the background.

 CARD #5

When i saw that sentiment “today the world revolves around you”, all I could think of was a spinner card. In this card the world literally goes around the cute astronaut . How cute is that!

CARD #6 & 7

6.jpg

After floating about in the space for quite sometime, those astronauts landed on some new planets. I wish they discover a planet where crafting burns most calories. I will turn skinny in just a few days…

CARD #8

I just can’t get enough of the pop up box card. There’s something really charming about how a flat card pops open into a dimensional box card. The floating astronaut is just perfect for these types of cards.

CARD #9

10.png

This astronaut image is particularly best suited for a spinner card as it has the same shape in the front and back (one need not stamp a mirror image).

CARD #10

Shaker’s gonna shake – shake – shake – shake – shake

I just love making a shaker card. Well truth to be told, i have seen so many crafters on Youtube heat emboss an acetate sheet that i was fooled to think it was easy. Well my first two acetates warped so much i just could not stop laughing at myself. Third time definitely is a charm and i managed to get it right.

Thanks for visiting this page. Hope you had fun reading it. Have a great day!

A big hello

IMG-20171205-WA0019

Hi there,

Today I am sharing a card that I made inspired by the sketch at CAS Color and Sketch challenge #251, colors at Color Throw Down Challenge #471, Embossing technique at Crafters Cafe Blog Challenge #186

Picture1.png

I am really happy how the black border around the die cut n in laid ‘Hello’ word looks between the two gold heat embossed panels. The foam under the die cut ‘Hello’ word adds more interest.

img-20171205-wa0023.jpg

I really enjoyed planing the inlay design and the die cutting for this card. Hope you like it too.

Thank you for lifting me up

Picture1

Hi there ,

Today i am sharing an interactive gate fold card. Its about being thankful day and night – today and everyday for all the things both big and small in our lives that lift us up and cherish each and every moment of life. Living with the attitude of gratitude is the best way to lead a happy and contended life.

I am so thankful for everyone and everything in my life. I consider myself truly blessed for my family and friends. I am so very thankful for the loving crafting community for all the love and support that they provide. Thank you all for lifting me up and encouraging me to pursue my passion for crafting.

IMG-20171124-WA0023.jpg

Picture2.pngTo make with card i stamped the images from My Favorite things – Growing up stampset with memento black ink on neenah solar white card stock and colored those with my copic markers. I added the white highlights with a white gel pen. The images were then cut using the coordinating dies.

Then i made a white gate fold card base ready by scoring a 6 x 10 white cardstock from both edges.  Using the coordinating die for the image of the big hot air balloon, the window aligning both the folds was cut in such a way that it matched the placement of the hot air balloon in the center panel inside the card.

Next I took three white cardstock panels and die cut these with a stitched rectangle die. I inked the first panel to create a scene with a night sky by ink blending distress oxide inks and then adding white splatters with gesso. I cut this night sky panel to match the window and the gate fold cut on the card base and stuck it to the form the front of the cardbase after adding the sentiment and sticking the colored die cut images.

Picture3.pngIn the next step i ink blended some clouds with distress oxide ink on the remaining two panels to create a day scene. One of the panels was cut to match the inside of the window and the gate fold card base and stuck it on inside of both the folds of the card base. The remaining panel will form the center for the inside of the card. On this panel i first black heat embossed the sentiment and then die cut the gap for slider action. I then added the big hot air balloon in the slider panel in such a way that it fit the window that was already cut in the gate fold card and stuck this panel using foam tape. There are many tutorials online on assembling slider cards, you may want to check out those.

IMG-20171124-WA0022

Once the slider was working, I added the grass landscapes that i had made by die cutting ink blended pieces with different green distress oxide inks. To finish the card i added cute little images that i had colored and die cut earlier.

I am playing along with a couple of challenges with this card:

HLS Dies – Anything goes with dies – In addition to using dies for cutting the inking panels with a stitched edge, i have used the coordinating dies for cutting the images as well as the window in the gate card. The coordinating die was used to cut the window in the inked inside and outside panels on both sides. The grass landscape edges were also cut with the dies that add more interest to the scene. The interactive slider was also cut using a die. I really don’t think it would have been so easy to make this card without the dies.

I also love the fact that ever since I have started cardmaking, I am able to express my love and feelings through cards to all the people in my life.
