Guest Design Paru’s Card Making Challenge – Flowers

Hello There,

flower

I am very excited and greatly honored to play along with  Paru’s Card Making Challenge as Guest Designer for the month of April with Flower challenge  to welcome spring. Many thanks to Ms. Paru  for having me over.

I have two projects that i want to share with you all – a spring flower theme card & a floral thank you tag.

1st Project :

Bharati nayudu thankyou card with flowers.jpg

My first project is a card inspired by my dear friend Sanjeevini, who has a very happy and cheerful personality and who loves flowers and bursts of colors.

To make this card I started with heat embossing, in white, the flowers and leaves from the stamp set ‘More spring flowers’ by Simon Says Stamp. I then added distress ink to each image using finger dabbers and fussy cut them. While adding the ink, mixing two of more colors to get a gradient look always works. I then took another white card piece and heat embossed the sentiment in white before ink blending the panel. The white heat embossed sentiment goes with the white outline and the dash line on the images. I then die cut a rectangular white card panel and then cut a oval window through it. I then adhered the leaves and flowers on the white window panel with tape. I also used foam squares in few places for dimension. I then adhered the window panel with the images using foam tape on to the ink blended card stock with the sentiment. I finished the card by adding a few sequen and adhering the whole card front to a deep green card base.

Apart from the colourful look  I love how a portion of the leaves is inside the window and few leave pop out of the card from the top and bottom of the card.

2nd Project :

Bharati nayudu thankyou tag with flowers.jpg

I really had a ton of fun making my second project which is a thank you tag.

I started with smooshing distress oxide inks on my craft mat and spraying some water. I then pressed my tag onto the ink. I repeated this process several times till I was happy with the results. Building layers of colour each time by adding ink, splattering water and drying between the layers. I then added interest by stamping some scripty font in black ink and the stamp i used is by Hero Arts and its called ‘Old French writing’. To add more interest i stamped randomly pattern from Bo Bunny’s  rough-it-up stamp set using spiced marmalade distress ink. I also added an image of a swirly ribbon in black ink from Inbetweenies stamp set by  Dyan Reaveley’s Dylusions. To add some texture to the tag i applied some embossing paste using a stencil by Tim Holtz. I was gifting a pack of beautiful flowers by Prima that I was hording since long and finally found place this tag. Before adhering the  flowers and the word die cut in black by Mudra Stamps, i did add few splatters of black ink with a thin brush. Then all that was left to do was to tie a white ribbon on the tag.

As you  can see I played with a lot of crafty goodies while making this tag and therefore enjoyed the whole process.

The theme for the month – Flowers has many beautiful possibilities and I hope my projects inspire you to play along at Paru’s Card Making Challenge. Thank you Ms. Paru for the wonderful opportunity!

CASology #294 Start

Hello There!

The next Challenge at CASology is up this week and the cue word is START.

Week 294 - Start

Here’s my take on the cue word

Bharati nayudu MFT our story CASology Start over CAS card.jpg

The moment I read the cue word – Start, I got ideas about card for encouraging others to start something new in their life or for someone who has started something new or for new parents or my nephew who is going to start going to college this year.

But the day I made this card, I kinda had a small disagreement with my mom over phone on a project we both were working on. Come on , we all have been there. And no matter from which country you are, it’s the same with mothers. My mother, i must mention, is a very talented, super hardworking, inquisitive, strong  and an extraordinary women. So that makes it even harder to be in disagreement with her. LOL!

Anyway, I was not feeling good about our conversation after the call ended and while I was feeling a bit low, I heard a voice from behind telling me – “It’s ok! Turn the page and start over”. It was our 10yrs old son. I am so blessed to have this wise lil kiddo by my side and I immediately took his advise. So I quickly (perks of CAS style) made this card to start things over on the project I was working on with my mom. I went over to her place to give her the card (oh, she lives just a block away).

The best part was, that even before i gave her the card, my mom had forgotten all about our disagreement, it was as if nothing ever happened. We were chit chatting as usual and I was enjoying her homemade treats. She was there for me like always, no matter what. Come on , we all have been there. And no matter from which country you are, it’s always the same with mothers. They can’t stop loving. Isn’t it. Never the less I gave her the card and told her what a wise lil grandson she had.

Now, while I am typing this post, my mom and my son are sitting by my side and teasing me & joking about how even when I was in a hurry to make a card for my mom, i combined it with an upcoming challenge for CASology. Lol!! What can I say,  I am just wired that way….. he he he he!!!

So get crafting to spread some smiles around. Just remember to keep it CAS. Can’t wait to see your creative take on this cue word.

‘Work’ – Guest Designer at Inkspirational

Hi there,

I am very excited and greatly honored to be playing along as Guest Designer at Inkspirational Challenges where the cue word this time is – Work. The various challenges at  Inkspirational are always fun & stimulating, and their DT creations are absolutely inspiring.

I am an HR professional at a Steel Plant and i love giving handmade cards at work. So, here ‘s my take on the word prompt challenge – “WORK”.

bharati nayudu work business card.jpg

To make this card, I first masked the edges with painter’s tape and then inked the  card front with distress oxide inks using a stencil. I then added a few splatters in black for added interest on the background. After i stamped the images from ‘MFT – Get down to business’ stampset with momento black ink, i colored the images with copic markers. The all that was left was to adhere all the images and the sentiment on to the inked background. Some of the images are adhere on to the card front while a few have been adhered with foam tape for dimension. I then adhered the card front to a black card base to form a frame all around the card.

I have made this card for my husband who recently was recognized with an award for his outstanding and dedicated contributions in his work.

I hope my card inspires you to play along Inkspirational Challenges and gets you crafting to spread handmade happiness around. Do visit Inkspirational Challenges for more inspiration from the super talented Design Team. Many thanks to the lovely ladies at Inkspirational for having me.

Hope you liked my card. Do let me know by leaving me comments. I really love reading them.

CASology #286 Butterfly

Hello There!

As the past week just fluttered by, it’s time for us to fly to the next challenge at CASology.  Got what i was hinting at?? Ok I may not be good at giving hints. So check out the cue card yourself. The Cue word for the Week # 286 is “Butterfly”.

Week 286 - Butterfly.jpg

I have always love butterflies and my mind went all over the place when i saw this cue word.  I will keep it real and confess, I wanted to play with stamps, stencils and dies – everything butterfly related from my  humble stash. I wanted to use inks, markers  as well as water colors. Butterflies were flying all over my imagination, until i saw this stamp by Mudra Stamps with a quote. Once it was in my hand I just wanted to use it. Don’t you think this quote is beautiful like a butterfly.

Bharati Nayudu CAS Butterfly quote handmade card.JPG

To add interest to the stamped quote I die cut it using a butterfly die and then in laid the pieces back. I adhered the pieces with the butterfly die image with tiny foam squares for some dimension.

Like i mentioned the cue word has a million beautiful possibilities. Just remember to keep it CAS.   Can’t wait to see your creative take on this cue word.

AAA Cards #108 All You Need Is Love

Hello There,

#108

It’s the month of valentine’s day and all you need is love. That’s exactly the challenge at AAA Cards this fortnight. Here’s my take on the challenge.

Bharati nayudu AAA Cards CAS love.pngSince the badge graphic says its all about love, I was inspired to have a cluster of hearts and for the sentiment – just the word love.

SXES4219For this card, I first cut the cluster of hearts using the ‘clipping hearts’ die by Simon Says Stamp from a deep red card stock and then from my white card front. I then in laid the red hearts into the white card front, that fit right into the gap.

For the sentiment I die cut 3 times the word love using the ‘hey love’ word die by Simon Says Stamp.

Then all that was left was to adhere the finished card front to a card base that matched the color of hearts. I really resisted adding clear sequin to this card to keep it really simple.

I hope my card inspires you to play along AAA Cards challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. Do visit AAA Cards challenge for more inspiration from the very creative Design Team and the two guest designers Bev and Sue who have beautiful cards to dazzle you. CASology #285 Swoon

Hello Everyone!

I am super thrilled and greatly honored to have joined the awesome Design Team at CASology Challenge. It is indeed a privilege to be working with the very talented card makers I adore. Very grateful to the lovely ladies at CASology for having me and for the warm welcome they have extended me.

IMG_5015.JPG

The Cue word at for the Week # 285 is “SWOON” and here’s my first card as the Design Team member of CASology. It’s a one layer CAS card, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

IMG_4788

I really adore the way these two little mice are looking into each other’s eyes, holding each other’s paws, with overwhelming love… I especially find the knotted tails very cute. I wanted to make a romantic scene on the card and hence opted for a moonlit sky as the background.

img_4791.jpgTo make this card, after stamping the images of the mice & hearts, I covered them with masking fluid. I let the masking fluid dry completely before covering the card front with a masking paper that had a circular window to frame the mice. I then blended distress inks to form a moonlit night sky. Once the inking was done I peeled off the masking, added stars with white gel pen and white heat embossed the sentiment. To maintain the CAS look, I didn’t color the mice much.

I hope my card inspires you to play along with us at CASology Challenge and gets you creating cards for those who make you swoon. Can’t wait to see your wonderful cards in our gallery. Do visit CASology Challenge for more inspiration from the very creative Design Team and the guest designer who have beautiful cards to dazzle you. I encourage you to visit their blogs and leave them more love.

One Layer Card – Lots of Love

bharati nayudu CAS penny black stamp hedgeho love handmade card.JPG

Hello There !

Today I am sharing a one layer clean and simple style card that is very easy to make and can be used for  Valentine’s day as well as for all other occasions.

I have mentioned earlier that i like to craft / color on the go, its mostly because I am hard pressed for crafting time and more so because I would rather craft than do anything else. So I carry a small pouch with my zig real brush markers, water brushes, pre-stamped card fronts, a few tissues, a white & a black pen and I am all good to go.  I stamp and emboss some of my card panels and that makes it coloring more fun and easy.

bharati-nayudu-cas-penny-black-stamp-hedgeho-love-handmade-card.jpgThe best thing about this way is that, it helps me focus and make best out of the limited supplies in hand and enjoying the coloring process.

Coloring on the go has also made me more patient in handling any kinda waiting time or service delays. After all everyone is trying to do their best.

This adorable hedgehog by Penny Black Stamps was colored on the go and later turned into an one layer card that are postal friendly. I love how the sentiment lots of love goes so well with the many hearts in the cart.

I am entering this card into a few challenges :

  1. Less is More # 363 One Layer card – Cute : This adorable and cute hedgehog on a one layer CAS card fits the bill
  2. Penny Black Saturday Challenge # January – Anything Goes : This adorable hedgehog is by Penny Black Stamps from the stamp set ‘Critters in Love’

Hope you like this card. I really appreciate your valuable comments and the time you take out to visit my blog. Thank you.

Lots of love to you!

Hugs
