Play journal

Hi There!

I am super excited to share a very different project than my usual handmade cards. Its kinda like an art journal but i didn’t make it in a “Journal”.. .

So here’s the project

1a

Recently Sandy Allnock had a #Playjournal challenge where she encouraged to experiment with new supplies and use the supplies that where stashed up and never used.

2b

I had bought some gesso, gelatos and stamps with bold & whimsical images quite some time back and i thought these were the perfect picks for this challenge.

2a

Here are steps to make this project in brief:

  • I selected a mixed media card stock because of this thickness and ability to take many layers of products.
  • I then adhered a background paper by Tim Holtz with glue that dries transparent on few portions of the card stock.

fff

  • I then added a white gesso all over with a spatula. After it dried i added texture paste all over to create a lot of texture on my background.

4a

  • After the texture paste dried i applied gelatos directly on my project and blended then with my fingers.
  • Tip – While blending gelatos with fingers keep very lightly wetting your fingers with water – This helps smooth movement of the pigment.

mm

  • While working on backgrounds I always find it easy to start with less and build the color as I go. Here i love how the design on the backgound paper is slightly visible and it adds more interest to the background.
  • I then added a border with black gelato in a wonky – whimsical style to match the focal point i was going to add.

f

  • On a separate card stock (i used watercolor paper) i stamped the flowers in black and colored them using gelatos.
  • TIP – Using black archival ink to stamp the flowers helps as the black ink won’t smudge when we add gelatos and blend the color.

ff

  • I then fussy cut the flowers and adhered then with double sided foam tape. I actually doubled the layers of foam tape to add more dimension and make the focal point pop!
  • For sentiment, i adhered the word die cuts in black and added glossy accents over them.
  • Finally i took a white gel pen and added a lot of white highlights and also outlined the inner edge of the black border.3a

Hope you liked my project.

CASology #339 Leap

Hi there!

Welcome to my post for the CASology challenge this week. Take a leap of creativity with us a CASology this week with the fun cue word “Leap”

Week 339 - Leap.jpg

Here’s my take:

NJUG7278.JPG

To make this card I stamped the image of this super adorable and extra cute frog from a stamp set by Sunny Studios on a Neenah Solar White (Alcohol marker friendly) card panel. I used Momento Tuxedo black ink to do the stamping with the help of an acrylic block. I then colored the image using copic markers (Alcohol markers) and also stamped the dashed line that make the frog appear to be in middle of the leaping action.

PJVN2946

I finally added the sentiment in Black from the stamp set and matted the card panel with a green card stock before adhering it to a card base.

Now it’s your turn to jump into action!

I hope my card inspires you to join us at CASology and gets you to crafting. Do  play along with us, just remember to keep it CAS. The following CAS guidelines should be of help when creating your design:

AAA Cards – Along the edge

Hello There!
Welcome to a new challenge at AAA Cards. The CAS game #138 at AAACards challenge is one of the easiest recipes for making a CAS card. Contain the design along the edge. Simple!
#138.jpg
The optional twist this time is sewing. We’d like to see your CAS cards have a focal element along the edge and if you opt to play with the twist add a bit of thread work.
Just a gentle reminder – we love empty white space that is smooth unpatterned and untextured
Here’s My take :
1.JPG
To make this card I first stamped in black the beautiful design from the tin roof stamp set by  cas-ualfridaysstamps. I then heat embossed the design in clear embossing powder.
Picture1.jpg
Then i added the sentiment from the stamp set called Supercalifragilistic . This one is by cas-ualfridaysstamps as well.  Then i took my nuvo drops and just went crazy with them as you can see. LOL!
4

The process of filling in each petal and dot in the design with the drops was so calming!! I enjoyed every moment of it. I must admit the thought that i will mess up the whole thing by accidentally smudging the wet part with my fingers lingered in my head through out the process.

5

Finally i matted the panel with a back card and adhered it on a white card base.

I hope my cards inspires you to play along AAA Cards challenge and gets you crafting to make some handmade happiness for your loved ones. Just remember to keep is Clean and Simple – CAS.

Tubby Craft :1 stamp – 2 ways

Hello There!

tubby

Welcome to my post. Today i have made 2 projects using one stamp set and the vibrant dye inks by Tubby Craft.

PROJECT 1 : Tag

Picture1

To make this card i first masked the edges of the Tag and then ink blended on it using the Tubby Craft inks – Light Pink, Rasberry and Imperial Red. Like i said in my earlier posts, a tip for a good ink blending is nice juicy ink dabbers. Mine are so full of ink. Also dabbing the ink on a separate paper and starting slightly off the page eliminates blobs of ink on the project. I must say i love how the Tubby craft inks blend into each other forming a smooth gradient. I peeled the masking tape off after the ink bending was over.

Picture2

On a separate watercolor paper, i stamped the image of the roses from “Roses and More” acrylic blocks by Tubby Craft and heat embossed it with in white embossing powder. I then colored the image using Gansai Tambi water colors. I fussy cut the image and adhere it to the inked tag.

Picture3.jpg

I then stamped the sentiment from the “Lucky to know you” set using the acrylic blocks by Tubby Craft and heat embossed it with in white embossing powder. I just love the font on this stamp set. It really adds a lot of interest to the project and an artsy look.

Picture4

I then took a white ribbon and inked it up using the Tubby Craft inks – Lawn Green,  Emerald Green and a bit of Yellow. I punched a whole in the tag and threaded the inked ribbon through it.

To  finish I added a few clear drops here and there on the tag.

I then colored the image using Tubby Craft Dye inks as  water colors. The inks i used are : Imperial Red, Tangy Orange, Lemon Yellow, Light Pink, Lawn Green and Emerald Green. I fussy cut the image .

Picture7.jpg

Then i took a craft front which had the woodgrain pattern embossed on it and added strips of silver and black washi tapes. I adhered the colored image with foam tape and stamped the sentiment.
